We’re in Your Business
No, but really. We’re in every business, including yours. It could be a late night commercial reminding you to stop for a coffee on the way to work in the morning, or, it could be something way smaller like a coupon to a local brewery once they open in the neighborhood. Any business, any industry, needs some time of advertising to thrive. We need to get into your business, so you can come to ours.
I remember when I first picked my degree – now my career, and someone told me, “Good luck finding a job after college. That’s not something that’s in demand.” This could not be further from the truth… Which is also reason #978483574921 of why I love what I do. Not kidding, I could probably come up with 978483574920 others.
I’m not saying don’t skip the ads on YouTube and not to mute the commercials, but what I am saying is to understand why it’s necessary. Most people like to support their local businesses, and how do we do that? With a Facebook share, a flier in the mail… It’s all advertising, folks. It doesn’t have to be a super-bowl commercial. The truth is, no one except the big name brands have a budget for those anyway.
If I show you a check mark, you will say it’s Nike. The yellow arches? You’re right, McDonald’s. The goal isn’t to BE a McDonald’s, the goal is to be as well KNOWN as McDonald’s. Your brand needs eyes, or impressions as us advertisers call it. You need people to know your name and what you offer. You could have a GREAT ad, but if no one remembers what company it’s for – what’s the point? You have to have the best of both worlds, and that’s hard to do, which is why you hire an agency that knows exactly how to do it. (And if you’re looking for one, please visit my contact page and shoot me an email!)
I truly enjoy the feeling knowing that I work in an industry that works hard to better a company. I love that although advertising can be shown in a negative light, our industry thrives on results and that we can prove it works. I love that it involves the way people think and perceive products, brands, etc. Instead of skipping your next ad, take a second to think why you might be the audience for it. Maybe you’ll take a second look, or click on it. Either way, that’s your business, and quite literally mine. #PunIntended
